At Herculano, tailor-made pieces are created through close collaboration, trust, and respect for creativity. Each custom item is designed especially for you — to fit your body, your lifestyle, and your vision.

How the process works:

1. Inspiration & Vision

You start by sharing inspiration photos that help explain the look, feeling, or details you love. These images are used purely as inspiration. We do not copy other designers’ work, but reinterpret ideas through Herculano aesthetic, African heritage, and modern design language.

2. Design Dialogue

We discuss your wishes in detail: silhouette, fit, length, sleeves, fabric feel, and how you plan to wear the piece. We also guide you on how to take the measurements we need for production. WhatsApp is our main communication channel, making it easy to share inspiration photos, sketches, voice notes, and updates throughout the process.

No size limits — for example, some of our skirts and dresses have an elastic back, giving a secure and flexible fit if your size changes slightly after purchase.

3. Fabric Options, Pricing & Production Time

Once the design direction is clear, we speak directly with our factory in Nigeria Africa to:

* Confirm which fabrics and prints are currently available

* Explore the best options for your design

* Calculate the final price based on fabric choice and design complexity

We only purchase 6 yards per fabric choice. Sometimes these are left-over fabrics — a sustainable approach to minimize waste. We recommend planning your piece carefully so we can use the full fabric efficiently. Maybe add additional pices? Any leftover fabrics will be repurposed in other Herculano projects.

Fabric deposit: 400 NOK per fabric (6 yards) choice (starting price). This deposit is deducted from your total payment, so there are no hidden costs.

💡 Design uniqueness: Your piece is made for you. We never use the same design and fabric together for other customers. A design can be recreated only in different fabrics. If the same fabric is requested again, it can only happen within a small time window, due to fabrics going out of stock quickly. This ensures your piece remains exclusive.

Contracts: We create a contract for every tailor-made order that includes all agreed details: design, fabrics, measurements, timeline, and total payment. The contract is signed by both parties and sent to the factory, ensuring no misunderstandings.

If you later want additional items in the same size, we save your measurements — making future orders stress-free.

When the design is finalized, we also check the production time with the factory to set realistic expectations.

Average production time: 4–5 weeks

* VAT and tolls for entering Norway

💡 The more items we gather together for production, the cheaper the total becomes. Invite a friend to place a custom order at the same time and save on production costs!

4. Payment, Fabric Deposit & Confirmation

All tailor-made orders are pre-paid before production starts.

Due to Klarna’s rules, **Klarna cannot be used** for custom or tailor-made items.

Payment in parts is possible, for example:

* First payment to secure fabrics

* Final payment before production begins

🔸 **Fabric Deposit Policy**

Herculano does not hold fabric stock at this time. Fabrics are sourced specifically for each tailor-made order.

* The **fabric deposit is non-refundable** if you cancel your order or choose to change fabrics after confirmation.

* Our vendors only offer a very limited refund window (a few days) after fabric purchase.

* After this window, unused fabrics must be kept in storage, attempted to be resold, or repurposed.

For this reason, fabric deposits cannot be refunded. We kindly ask customers to be certain about their fabric choice before confirming.

Production starts only after:

✔ Design details are approved

✔ Fabrics are secured

✔ Full payment is completed

5. Creation & Delivery

Once everything is confirmed, your piece is made specifically for you in limited quantities, with care and attention to detail.

What to Expect as a Customer

* Personal attention: Every step of the process is guided with care — from inspiration to finished piece.

* Guidance on measurements: We help you take all the measurements we need — no size limits. Our elastic-back skirts and other flexible designs ensure a good fit even if your size changes slightly.

* Open communication: WhatsApp makes it easy to discuss ideas, share photos, and ask questions in real time.

* Transparency: You will always know available fabrics, pricing, and timelines before production begins.

* Collaboration, not copying: Your design is inspired by your ideas, but uniquely reimagined through Herculano aesthetic.

* Exclusivity: We never use the same design and fabric together for other customers, keeping your piece truly unique.

* Sustainability: Fabrics are limited and carefully sourced. Any leftovers are repurposed in other projects.

* Contracts & peace of mind: All agreements, including measurements, are signed and sent to the factory. Future orders with the same size are stress-free because we save your measurements.

* Timing: Average production + shipping time is 4–5 weeks. If you need it for a special occasion, tell us immediately so we can prioritize.

* Time & patience: Tailor-made items take time to produce. Each piece is carefully handcrafted, ensuring the best fit and quality.
